Knitted Top

This top is cast on from the neck & knitted down, Raglan style, shaped & finished with a lace rib stitch from Barbara Walker's Treasury of stitches I. Modeled here by my daughter.
Yarn used: Sirdar snuggly " Baby bamboo". I would like to work with this yarn again. It is 80% bamboo & 20% wool.

Crochet pinwheel motif





Beg at center, ch 4, join to form ring.
Rnd 1. 12 sc in ring.
Rnd 2. Sc in 1st sc, ( ch3 sk next sc sc in next sc) 6 times- 6 ch-3 loops.
Rnd 3. Sc in next ch-3 lp. (ch3, sc in next sc, sc in next ch-3 lp) 5 times, ch3 sk next sc, sc in next sc.
Rnd 4. 2 sc in ch-3 lp. (ch3 sk next sc, sc in sc, 2sc in ch-3 lp) 5 times. end ch3 sk next sc, sc in next 2 sc.
Rnd 5. 2 sc in next ch-3 lp.( ch3, sk next sc, sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next ch-3 lp) 5 times. end ch 3 sk next sc, sc in each next 3sc.
Rnd 6. 2 sc in next ch-3 lp ( ch3, sk next sc, sc in each of the next 3 sc, 2 sc in ch-3 lp) 5 imes, end ch3 sk next sc, sc in each of next 4 sc.
Rnds 7-12. Continue to work in same manner , having 1 more sc before ch-3 lp every round until 11 sc bet ch-3 lps, end last round ch3, sl st in next sc. End off.
This motif was worked into a dress, - 60 motifs in all. The motif gauge -5 inches for small dress & 5.5" for medium. blocked bust size of 34" & 36".

Starting motif; (half motif) ch 6
row 1. 2 sc in 2nd ch fr hk & in each ch acr,- 10 sc. turn
row 2. *ch3 hdc in 3rd ch fr hk, skip next sc, sc in next sc ( picot made ) rep fr across- 5 picots. ch7 turn.

Second motif: Sl st in sc bet 1st & 2nd p. ch1, turn.
row 1. work 14 sc in ch7 loop, ch 3 turn.
row 2. dc in each sc across -14 dc. Sl st in next p ,ch1, turn.
row 3. sc in each dc across. Mark beg of row 4 as left edge of strip. turn.
row 4. * ch3, hdc in 3rd ch fr hk sk next sc, sc in next sc ( p made). Mark this first p with small safety pin as soon as it is made. Rep fr * across- 7 p's. sl st in next p on starting motif. ch7, turn.

Third motif; sl st in sc bet first & second p on previous motif. ch1, turn.
row 1. Work 14 sc in ch7 loop; sl st in second p fr end on starting motif ( when working next motif, sl st in 5th p fr end ), ch2, sl st in last p on starting motif ( when working next motif, sl st in 4th p fr end). Do not chain, turn.
row 2. Dc in each sc across- 14 dc. Sl st in next p, ch1, turn.
row 3. Sc in each dc across. Sl st in same p as before. Do not ch, turn.
row 4. Work 7 p across, sl st in next free p (5th from end). Ch 7, turn. Repeat 3rd motif for pattern.
End motif;( half motif); rep 3rd motif through row 1.
row 2. Dc in each of next 6 sc. Ch1, turn.
row 3. sc in each dc-6 sc. sl st in same p as before, do not ch turn.
row 4. work 3 p across. End off.
